Straight landscape painting is rare for me. This image is based upon the badlands of Blue Mesa in Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona, a truly otherworldly place. It is an attempt to evoke the quality of feeling and light one gets when one stands upon the threshold between the worlds, hence the title.
