©Edward Gonzales Taos Morning Glory 2002 Taos, Morning Glory is an oil painting I recently completed. It is a portrait of my cousin, Avelina with the Taos mountains in the background and the early morning sun rising. The image has a old world, biblical feeling...a sense that it could have taken place in ancient times, as well as the present. This timeless presence in the work is very important to me when I create a painting. It is a quiet celebration of the day's beginning, a moment of solitude and appreciation for the beauty of nature before continuing with the day's work.
