The Vision Store

The Vision Store expands its services and moves to Camino del Pueblo just south of the US 550 intersection on the east side of the street.

The Vison Store moves to larger location

The Vision Store has moved to a larger, more comfortable space at 160 Camino del Pueblo, in Bernalillo, just around the corner from their former location in the Walgreen complex on US 550. Owner Dr. Diedra Casaus built the new store on a one-acre lot at southeast corner of the US 550 and Camino del Pueblo intersection. The Vision Store occupies 4,000 square feet in the front of the building, while a 3,000 square foot or two 1,500 square foot commercial spaces are available for rent in the back.

Dr. Casaus explained that her business had outgrown the old store which had only 2,400 square feet. She said that business had significantly improved, since moving to the new location in May, 2012. “I opened the Vision Store in 2004, because the Bernalillo area was under-served by optometry. It was the one hundredth anniversary of optometry in New Mexico. I really enjoy working here and taking care of my patients’ most precious sense—their sense of sight.”

Dr. Casaus grew up in Albuquerque, graduated from UNM, and the University of Houston. She moved her practice to Bernalillo from Mesquite, Texas. Her clientele usually comes from Rio Rancho, Placitas, Algodones, and rural areas of Sandoval County.

Dr. Casaus performs vision examinations, ocular health evaluations, contact lens fitting, and works with glaucoma, diabetic, and hypertensive patients. The new location includes four exam rooms, a larger optical shop with an extensive selection of frames, and a full-service lab for making lenses.

The Vision Store is open from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Walk-ins are accepted, but appointments are recommended. They accept all types of commercial insurance and Medicaid.

Rose Nodine has gone from a life of fear and abuse to one that is safe and thriving. Pregnant with her second child, she’s also the founder and owner of Mosaic Services, a small vending machine company. Rose has committed to raise three thousand dollars from her company for PB&J Family Services so she can give back to the organization that helped her turn her life around. Three thousand dollars is the cost to provide case management, support services, and parenting classes for one family at PB&J for a year. “Someone did that for me and now it’s my turn to give back,” says Rose Nodine.

“PB&J was fundamental to healing the trauma in our lives and helping me and my son to confidently move forward. In 2006, I came to PB&J looking for support and healing as I was trying to exit an abusive marriage. The teachers, staff, and therapists within PB&J were there through everything to support me and give me the tools to help my son through all of the emotions and changes happening in our lives,” Rose said.

When the manager of the Range Café in Bernalillo heard Rose’s story, she immediately made space in the restaurant lobby for Rose’s Gizmo gumball machine. Two other locations in Albuquerque—Price Rite Super Market and Galles Collision Center—also have machines placed in their locations in support of PB&J. In just a few months, Rose has been able to donate almost three hundred dollars from her gumball sales PB&J Family Services.

In addition to PB&J, Rose has dedicated other machines to raise needed dollars for her other passion—the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Rose is looking for seven additional locations to place machines in order to achieve her fundraising goals for both charities. To learn more about placing a Gizmo gumball machine at your favorite restaurant, bowling alley, supermarket, or high traffic business, contact Rose at 816-8220 or mosaicexecutive@gmail.com.
