SC Fair comes again to Cuba
The 36th Annual Sandoval County Fair runs from Wednesday, August 1, through Sunday, August 5, at the County Fairgrounds in Cuba, New Mexico. Wednesday’s lineup features an Open Horse Show from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. On Thursday, the 4H members start showing off their prize animals and wowing the judges with their tastiest baked goods. Friday is Senior Day at the fair, which means special events geared toward entertaining people in their Golden Years. Saturday events start at 8:00 a.m. with the Dutch Oven Cook-off, followed by the County Fair parade through downtown Cuba, then the Pow Wow—featuring traditional Native American Dances and Songs. Other events include the Antique Tractor Show, the crowning of the State Fair Queen, the start of the Rodeo, and an evening dance.
The final day offers a free pancake breakfast, leading up to the noon start of the Junior Rodeo.
Daily admission is five dollars for adults and three dollars for children. If you attend more than one day, Friends-of-the-Fair Passes—allowing unlimited entry for the full five days—can be purchased for ten dollars per person or $25 for a family. The fairgrounds are located on County Road 11 about a mile south of the intersection with Highway 550, just as you enter Cuba.
