Try the Community Center for lunch

Sandoval County Senior Centers serve noontime meals on site and homebound meals for seniors unable to come to the center. The noontime meals are a great opportunity to eat a well-balanced meal and spend some time visiting with other members of the community.

Meal service at the Placitas Community Center begins at noon and continues until about 12:20 p.m. Residents who are 60 years of age or older may enjoy lunch for $1.50. People under 60 years of age are welcome—including children—but must pay $4.50 per meal. The seniors are served first, while those under 60 will be served at 12:15 p.m.

December 6: Trimming of the tree 9:30 a.m.

December 8: Yoga 9:30-11 a.m.

December 12: Christmas shopping 8:30 a.m.–2 p.m.

December 13: Senior Olympics meeting, 10 a.m.

December 14: White Elephant Gift Exchange and potluck at Noon.

December 15: Yoga 9:30-11 a.m.

December 19: Baking 9:30 a.m.

December 20: Baking 9:30 a.m.

December 21: Trip to Algodones Elementary for Christmas program.

December 22: Christmas Potluck Party 11:30 a.m.

December 26: Center closed.

December 29: Yoga 9:30-11 a.m., Birthday Social.

December 1: Green chile chicken enchiladas, Spanish rice, pinto beans, cookies

December 2: Lasagna, corn, garlic bread, tossed salad, apple cobbler

December 5: Frito pie, corn, garnish, cake with frosting

December 6: Polish sausage, sauerkraut, peas and carrots, buns, chocolate cake

December 7: Roast pork, mashed potatoes, gravy, beets, tossed salad, shortcake

December 8: Oven-fried chicken, scalloped potatoes, green beans, peaches

December 9: Meatloaf with gravy, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots, tossed salad, cookies

December 12: Pork and beans, franks, potato salad, corn, mixed fruit

December 13: BBQ chicken, Tater Tots, green peas, diced pears

December 14: Green chile stew, corn, calabacitas, refried beans, tortillas, vanilla pudding

December 15: Spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, tossed salad, sliced cucumbers, diced pineapples

December 16: Chicken salad, potato chips, lettuce, tomato, mandarin oranges

December 19: Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, carrots, tapioca pudding

December 20: Tamales, pinto beans, Spanish rice, rice pudding

December 21: Turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, tossed salad, butterscotch pudding

December 22: Cheeseburgers, potato salad, baked beans, lettuce, tomato, fresh apples

December 23: Breaded pollock, tartar sauce, potato wedges, carrots, tossed salad, apple slices

December 26: Closed.

December 27: Sliced ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, mixed vegetables, applesauce

December 28: BBQ riblets, baked beans, coleslaw, fresh oranges

December 29: Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, tossed salad, green peas, tapioca pudding

December 30: Tuna salad, sliced tomatoes, pasta salad, crackers, peaches and cottage cheese

• Suggested donation for meal (60+): $1.50
