NMSU Extension Service offers gardening classes
Sandoval County Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners offer the 2009 Southwest Homeowner Gardening Class series beginning on Thursday, February 19 and continuing each Thursday thereafter through April 2, 2009. Each week, we will offer a different class on soil, climate, appropriate trees, shrubs, vines, fruit trees, landscape design, vegetables, small fruits, herbs, lawns, and ground covers.
Classes will be held twice on each Thursday, a morning class from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Sandoval County Visitor Center at 264 Camino del Pueblo in Bernalillo and again in the evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Village of Corrales Senior Center, 4324 Corrales Road in Corrales.
The cost of the series is $15 per person or $25 per two persons from the same household. If you wish to attend only one class, the charge is $5 per person, payable at the door. Call the Extension Office at 867-2582 to register and reserve a place. Popular classes are on a first come, first served basis.
Volunteers from Rio Rancho needed for transportation council
Three residents from the City of Rio Rancho are being sought to serve on the Sandoval County Service Council. This council is affiliated with the Mid-Region Council of Governments (MRCOG) and the Rio Metro Transit District Board.
It is preferred, but not required, that those who serve on this council are regular users of one or more of the Transit District services (Sandoval County Easy Express, ABQ Ride, Rapid Ride, Rail Runner, Park & Ride, etc.). Those selected will serve with representatives from other Sandoval communities; meet on a quarterly basis to discuss the level and quality of service being provided as part of the Rio Metro Transit District; and make recommendations to the Transit District Board.
Residents interested in serving or who have questions should contact District 4 City Councilor Steven L. Shaw (sshaw@ci.rio-rancho.nm.us; (505) 264-3754) or District 5 City Councilor Larry E. Naranjo (lnaranjo@ci.rio-rancho.nm.us; (505) 264-3755) as soon as possible.
It is anticipated that the council will begin meeting in March. For more information about MRGOG and Rio Metro please visit www.mrcog-nm.gov. |
