Catholic Charities provides rental assistance
Catholic Charities will be able to provide rental assistance to those experiencing homelessness or facing eviction in Sandoval County. Funding will be provided from the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (NMMFA) and individuals and households can apply for assistance beginning on February 8. In order to be eligible, the household must be at or below thirty percent of the median income for their household size. The rental unit must pass a Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspection for assistance to be provided. For more information, contact James at 724-4611 beginning February 8.
Optimists plan candidates’ forum
“The election season has arrived and we want to help voters meet candidates,” said Snow Watson, president of the Optimist Club de Sandoval, a non-partisan service club.
At their February 18 meeting, the Optimists plan to outline their Meet the Candidates Forum to bring together voters and the post-primary candidates for county, state, and federal offices later this summer or fall.
“These events require a lot of advance planning,” said Suzann Owings, club vice president. “At the forum, voters will be able to interview their candidates.”
The Optimist Club de Sandoval meets the third Saturday of each month, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Placitas Cafe. They sponsor Cub Scout Pack 708. The club welcomes ideas, new members, and additional community projects. For further information, contact Snow Watson at 867-2047. |
