Scouts maintain old traditions and help others

“We’re fully into our Pinewood Derby season,” said Leland Bowen who assists with Pack 708. Our cub scouts’ regional competition will be in March.

For many years, Mr. Bowen has helped scouts craft their derby cars.  Mr. Bowen also will be assisting the scouts in their Blue and Gold Banquet on Wednesday, February 13, at 6:30 p.m., at the LDS Church in Bernalillo.

Before the banquet, scouts from Pack 708 will participate in the national Scouting for Food campaign. Cub scouts will distribute sacks and informational materials to homes around Placitas from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on February 2. Those families who participate are asked to fill sacks with food that the scouts will pick up on Saturday morning, February 9. The food gathered will be taken to Casa Rosa in Placitas.

The Pack meets each Friday, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Placitas Elementary School. For further information, contact Tori Tafoya at 414-1885, or Snow Watson at 867-2047.
