Kaktus Brewing Company models sustainable living and working practices

—Dana Koller, owner of Kaktus Brewery

Kaktus Brewing Company announced a new a self-guided tour of their operations on January 16, becoming the first brewery in New Mexico to offer this type of experience to customers. Since we opened in October of 2013, Kaktus Brewery has successfully become a gathering place for friends—with good food, music, and, of course, beer.

Part of the mission of Kaktus Brewery is to model sustainable living and working practices. The Brewery features a six-kilowatt solar array, which provides approximately a quarter of the energy used on site. In addition, we recycle rain and wastewater for landscaping, and eventually will expand this operation to include on-site gardens. The Kaktus Brewery chickens also play a part, as they help to reduce the food waste coming out of our kitchen.

We feel that it is essential to consider our long-term vision and we were excited to offer this self-guided tour for the public to see how our business models sustainable living practices, while making some great beer.

We’re open every day from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mark your calendars for a special Saint Patrick’s Day celebration on March 17 with Celtic music by the Red Light Ramblers from 6:00 p.m. to closing time.

For more information and directions to the brewery, visit: www.kaktusbrewery.com or find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/kaktus-brewing-company-inc.
