Wednesdays: Problems with Alcohol? Thinking Straight, Alcoholics Anonymous Step Study Meeting, 6:00 p.m., every Wednesday, now held at the Old Convent, 264 Camino del Pueblo, across from the Catholic Church in Bernalillo. Commission schedule change—Because New Year’s Day falls on the first Thursday of the month, the Sandoval County Commission meetings will be held on January 8 and January 22. The January 8 meeting will be at 3:00 p.m., the January 22 session at 6:00 p.m.

January 10: West Mesa Branch of the American Association of University Women holds a joint luncheon meeting with its Albuquerque Branch of AAUW at Essencia, 11:30 a.m. Essencia is at 4908 Corrales Road, Corrales. The program will feature certified financial planner Donna Skeels Cygan speaking on planning for the transition to retirement, long-term care insurance, and investment strategies. Guests welcome.
