Mondays (first Monday of the month):
Rio Rancho Art Association member meeting. Destiny Center, 4401 Northern Boulevard in Rio Rancho. Meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. with a short business meeting followed by a special program including speakers, demonstrations, or other events of interest to artists and art lovers. Each meeting has a social hour following the speaker, including samples of art by members. Meetings are open to the public regardless of artistic experience and media. All are encouraged to join. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow artists, network, make friends, and develop your skills.

Mondays: Come Sing with Sweet Adelines Enchanted Mesa Show Chorus. The Enchanted Mesa Show Chorus invites women singers in the area who enjoy acappella singing and performing to “check us out.” Women of all ages are invited to attend the chorus’ weekly rehearsals on Mondays from 7-10 p.m. at The Netherwood Park Church of Christ, 5101 Indian School Road NE., Albuquerque. Second Tuesdays: Eastern Sandoval County Arroyo Flood Control Authority (ESCAFCA) meets at 3 p.m. in the Town of Bernalillo Council Chambers. Third Tuesdays: RESOLVE, Central New Mexico, Meeting. RESOLVE provides information and support for those dealing with infertility, pregnancy loss, high-risk pregnancy, making the decision to adopt or life without children. First Wednesdays: The Sandoval County Chapter of the Holistic Moms Network meets at the Placitas Community Center to provide support and education on various natural living and conscious parenting topics. 6 p.m. Weekly playgroups, book exchanges, and an online forum for parenting support. The Holistic Moms Network is a nonprofit support and discussion network for moms with an interest in natural, holistic, and alternative parenting and living. Our goal is to develop a thriving community which nurtures, supports, and informs mothers and their families. Children are always welcome. Thursdays: Depression and bipolar support group meetings. DBSA Albuquerque offers weekly support-group meetings for those suffering from mood disorders. Thursdays (first and third Thursday of the month): The Coronado Optimist Club meetings are held at 6:15 p.m. at Coronado Grill (upstairs). Second Thursdays: Do you want to learn more about politics? The League of Women Voters – Albuquerque, a nonpartisan organization, meets the second Thursday of each month. The luncheon meeting is at the Wyndham Hotel. The LWV encourages informed and active participation to influence public policy through education and advocacy. Reservations required. Fourth Fridays (except April): Casa Rosa Mobile Food Pantry distribution. 1:30-3:30 p.m.,  fellowship hall of Las Placitas Presbyterian Church. Roadrunner truck will bring 2,500 pounds of food, approximately fifty pounds of food per family. All eligible Placitas residents welcome. 

Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. Bernalillo Methodist Church group meetings. Sundays are women's only meetings.

Saturdays: Casa Rosa Food Bank is open 9 a.m.-noon in the pink house east of Las Placitas Presbyterian Church on Highway 165, six miles east of I-25. This community outreach program provides nonperishable food items as well as dairy, frozen meats, and fresh produce as available for Placitas residents in need. Donations and volunteers welcome.

January 15: Republican Party of Sandoval County precinct caucuses and biennial organizational county convention. 9:30 a.m., NM 550 Bernalillo Transit Center, 400 Station Street, Bernalillo. The purpose of this convention is to elect new county central committee members, new county officers, and a new county contingent to the State Central Committee. The cost to attend will be $15 per person.

January 16: “Geology of the Placitas Area—the Broken Northern Nose of the Sandia Mountains.” 2:00 p.m., DeLavy House (Sandoval County Historical Society, just north of new IHOP off NM 550). Presented by geologist Dirk Van Hart, this talk makes geology and human history seem a natural and necessary pairing. Sponsored by the Friends of Coronado State Monument. Friends members free; $5 for nonmembers.

February 12: St. Vincent DePaul Society of Our Lady of Sorrow’s Church Valentine Dinner Dance. There will be a Mexican menu, live music, and a silent auction. Cost will be $15 for singles and $25 for couples. Proceeds will be used to help families in Bernalillo and surrounding areas who need assistance with food and/or utilities.
