Sandoval Commission Meetings
Unless otherwise noted, all Sandoval County commission meetings will be held in the county commission chambers, Sandoval County Courthouse, 711 Camino del Pueblo, Bernalillo, New Mexico.

Placitas Community Library Hours:
Tuesday 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Wednesday and Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 867-3355 for directions or questions.

Monthly: Parents Without Partners offers support, education, and friendship to single parents of all ages, regardless of custody. Get-togethers, family outings, socials. All welcome. Wayne, 892-2456.

Mondays (first Monday of the month): Rio Rancho Art Association member meeting. Destiny Center, 4401 Northern Boulevard in Rio Rancho. Meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. with a short business meeting followed by a special program including speakers, demonstrations, or other events of interest to artists and art lovers. Each meeting has a social hour following the speaker, including samples of art by members. Meetings are open to the public regardless of artistic experience and media. All are encouraged to join. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow artists, network, make friends, and develop your skills.

First Wednesdays: The Sandoval County Chapter of the Holistic Moms Network meets at the Placitas Community Center to provide support and education on various natural living and conscious parenting topics. 6 p.m. Weekly playgroups, book exchanges, and an online forum for parenting support. The Holistic Moms Network is a nonprofit support and discussion network for moms with an interest in natural, holistic, and alternative parenting and living. Second Thursdays: Do you want to learn more about politics? The League of Women Voters–Albuquerque, a nonpartisan organization, meets the second Thursday of each month. Saturdays: Casa Rosa Food Pantry is open 10 a.m.- noon in the pink house east of Las Placitas Presbyterian Church on Highway 165, six miles east of I-25. This community outreach program provides nonperishable food items available for Placitas residents in need. Donations and volunteers welcome!

Anaya, who currently serves as the executive director of the New Mexico Office of Recovery and Reinvestment, will discuss the federal stimulus package impact on the state. July 26: Madeleine’s Place is sponsoring a summer music series to provide a comfortable, affordable concert-type venue where area residents can hear outstanding local musicians performing folk, western, and light rock. Jim Jones will be the summer series’ second performer. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. to allow fans to picnic prior to the 2:30 p.m. concert. Light refreshments are available for purchase.
