Signpost wins again

As announced in the June, 2012, Signpost, Barb and Ty Belknap won the first-place award in the 2012 New Mexico Press Women’s Communication Contest in category 15-A for editing a non-daily newspaper with the November 2011 and December 2011 issues of the Sandoval Signpost. The contest submissions of all of the first-place winners in each category from each state were then sent on to compete against each other at the national level in the National Federation of Press Women’s 2012 Communications Contest. The results were announced in mid-June. The Belknaps won fourth place at Nationals, in the category of 15-A, with an Honorable Mention for the Signpost newspaper. An awards ceremony to recognize all national winners is scheduled for September, 2012, in Scottsdale, Arizona, at which time winners will be presented with certificates suitable for framing.

Victoria’s Secret call center changes from lingerie to credit cards

The employees at the Victoria’s Secret Customer Care Center in Rio Rancho will no longer be selling lingerie to clients over the phone, but will be providing customer support for credit card programs. Alliance Data Systems Corporation announced in June that its retail services business is acquiring the Victoria’s Secret customer care center located at 7001 Zenith Court in Rio Rancho.

On September 14, the operations will be converted, and Victoria’s Secret associates will become Alliance Data employees. Employees will receive uninterrupted, comparable compensation, and benefits will maintain their tenure. The center will continue to operate as a Victoria’s Secret facility until that time.

Alliance Data provides more than 95 private label (retailer-branded) credit card programs for North American retailers, including Victoria’s Secret, and currently maintains five customer care centers in Colorado, Ohio, and Kansas to support its cardholder customers. The addition of the Rio Rancho customer care center, and its approximately 350 employees, will play a critical role in meeting the customer servicing needs of Alliance Data’s growing private label credit card business, according to Alliance Data’s public relations spokesman Andrew Crum.

“As Victoria’s Secret catalogue and internet customer base continues to grow, and is at an all-time high, customer shopping patterns have increasingly shifted from catalogue purchases made by calling the customer care center to those made online. As a result, Victoria’s Secret will consolidate to one Customer Care Center in Kettering, Ohio, where ample capacity already exists to successfully manage its catalogue and web volume,” said Crum.

“As a new community member in Rio Rancho, we so appreciate the support and warm welcome we’ve received from Mayor Swisstack and other city officials; their partnership will help ensure we get off to a great start here as we continue to grow as a thriving employer and good corporate citizen,” said Melisa Miller, president of Alliance Data’s Retail Services business.
