Second Monday: Rio Grande Rebels 4-H Club meets. Now accepting new members. The 4-H youth development program is a dynamic non-formal education program that provides opportunities for youth to learn life skills and gain knowledge while having fun. Every Tuesday: Pickleball at the Bernalillo Community Center. 6-8 p.m. Pickleball is a game played on a court with paddles and a whiffle ball. The court is smaller than a tennis court and allows people to play who no longer want to run and jump as they did in their younger years. Anyone can play even if they have never played tennis. First Tuesday: Albuquerque Newcomers Club Welcoming Coffee. 10 a.m. Learn of the Club’s many varied activities. Membership open to residents who have lived in the Albuquerque area (including Sandoval County) for five years or less, or who are having major changes in their lives. Third Tuesday: Eastern Sandoval County Arroyo Flood Control Authority (ESCAFCA). 6 p.m. in the Town of Bernalillo Council Chambers. Tuesdays: Haven House Domestic Violence Support Group for women whose lives have been touched by domestic violence. 6:30-8:00 p.m. Topics include: Dynamics of Domestic Violence, Safety Plans, Developing Healthy Relationships, and information about available services. First Wednesdays: Free civil legal clinic offered. 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Held in the third-floor conference room of the Second District Courthouse, at the southwest corner of Lomas and Fourth, NW. Free legal advice on a number of civil legal issues. No family law services will be offered. Attendance is limited to the first 25 persons who qualify for low-income assistance. Interpreters and bilingual attorneys will be on hand. Those who come to the clinic should bring all their paperwork with them. They can expect about a thirty-minute, free legal consultation. Second Wednesday: Rio Rancho Art Association (RRAA) monthly membership meeting. 6:30-8:30 p.m. RRAA is a non-juried/all mediums regional art association. Fourth Thursday: Sandoval County Development Planning & Zoning Commission. 6 p.m. Held at the Sandoval County Administration Building, 1500 Idalia Rd., Bldg. D, Bernalillo.

Friday: Sandoval County Stroke Support Group. 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Provides weekly support to survivors of stroke, their caregivers, adult family members, and health care providers. Every other Friday: Collage Like Picasso! Learning Studio. 2:00-4:30 p.m. Elizabeth Bogard teaches this experiential workshop that focuses on creating collage and mixed-media art works. Students use Washi and other papers and paints to create collage and mixed-media paintings. Previous art experience is not necessary. Occasional field trips. Saturdays: Casa Rosa Food Bank. Open 9-11 a.m. Held in the pink house east of Las Placitas Presbyterian Church at 640 Highway 165, six miles east of I-25. Community outreach program provides nonperishable food items as well as dairy, frozen meats, and fresh produce as available for Placitas residents in need. Donations, volunteers welcome.

July 4: Fourth of July firework show. Festivities begin at 6 p.m.; fireworks at 9:15 p.m. Held at the Loma Colorado Park, 735 Loma Colorado Boulevard.

July 4: Placitas Fourth of July Parade. Participants line up in front of Placitas Heights at 10 a.m., Parade starts at 11 a.m. No registration is necessary. Parade winds east on Highway 165 and through the Village of Placitas. All are welcome to bring camp chairs and coolers to enjoy this annual parade.

July 5: Gardening with the Masters lecture “Preserving Garden’s Harvest.” 7-8:30 p.m. Sponsored by SandovalMasterGardeners.org. Free and open to the public. Walk-ins welcome. At Meadowlark Senior Center, Rio Rancho. 929-0414.

July 6: Jardineros de Placitas monthly meeting. 9:30 a.m. Jardineros will hold its monthly meeting, featuring speaker Bill Kennedy, titled “Don’t be Wild in the Wilderness: Handling Wilderness Emergencies.” Jardineros de Placitas is a social, benevolent, and charitable community-based organization for residents of Placitas.
