Tuesdays: Howling Dog Jazz Band plays at Piñon Café, Placitas.

Wednesdays: Problems with Alcohol? Thinking Straight, Alcoholics Anonymous Step Study Meeting, 6:00 p.m., every Wednesday, now held at the Old Convent, 264 Camino del Pueblo, across from the Catholic Church in Bernalillo. May 29: The Sandoval County Historical Society will present a demontration of the making of hand-forged tools by blacksmith Gary Williams. 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. at the Sandoval Historical Society Museum on Edmonds Road in Bernalillo. 867-2755.

May 29: Annual rededication of Coronado State Monument at 3:00 p.m. The Coronado Monument is off I-25 Exit 242, one mile west on US 550/44, just behind Jackalope Pottery at 485 Kuaua Road. A panel will discuss our remarkable state treasures.

May 31: Nonemergency offices closed in observance of Memorial Day.

June 5 and 6: The Corrales Visual Arts Council presents a multimedia show and sale, Carnival of the Arts. The show features the work of 52 artists and crafters from Placitas, Corrales, Cochiti Lake, Rio Rancho, and the greater Albuquerque and Santa Fe areas; there will be jewelry, oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, woodwork, acrylics, fiber art, and stained glass. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at the Historic Old San Ysidro Church in Corrales, Old Church Road. No charge for admission or parking.

June 12: Fifth Tamaya Artisan Market at Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa. Gives the community a chance to come together and celebrate history and modern-day accomplishments through art and performance. June 12: Clarifying Meditative Work – A Fresh Look. A workshop for people from any meditation tradition or no tradition at all. We’ll explore directly what meditative work is and how it sheds light on the concerns of our lives, not theoretically, but from a simple meditative listening that includes others and myself, Jay Cutts. June 12: Annual Fiesta Time at the Mission de San Antonio de Padua. Traditional mass honoring St. Anthony at 6:30 p.m. followed by a procession of the santos accompanied by mariachis and an honor guard of the Knights of Columbus through the village of Placitas. The procession will stop at various locations for song and recitation and finish by 9:00 p.m. at the community center on the mission grounds to celebrate longtime members of the community and the 85th year of the mission.

June 13: Annual Fiesta Time at the Mission de San Antonio de Padua continues. The grounds will be open for more festivities from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. At noon, a matanza. Arts-and-craft booths. Karaoke and the dance band “Trappie and the In-Crowd.” Bingo, ongoing horseshoe tournament, game booths, food service. Public welcome. Located in the village of Placitas.

June 17: Senior Wellness Clinic. Weight, blood pressure, diabetes screening, massage. Noon to 2 p.m. Our Lady of Sorrows Church social center, 301 Camino Del Pueblo, Bernalillo. Free. 867-1786.

June 24-25: Fourth Annual Hyatt Hotels of New Mexico Blood Drive for Life at the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Hyatt Hotels of New Mexico and United Blood Services hope to help prevent blood shortages over the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.
