Elaine Slusher, a longtime resident of Placitas. is teaching a painting and drawing class at the Placitas Community Center on Mondays from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. She is a signature member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society and the Western Federation of Watercolor Society and will have a painting in an exhibit at the Albuquerque Museum in May. Slusher is interested in strong composition and the relationships of one color to another. Her watercolors, which have received many awards in juried exhibits, hang in private collections in the United States and Europe. The class is free and open to all community members; however, you must purchase your own supplies. Come and enjoy. This is a great opportunity for all.
Exercise activities now include low-impact aerobic classes led by instructor Deanne Stevenson on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The cost is $3 per class or $20 per month. The first class is free, so come and join in! We have participants from age eight to sixty-five!
We are still looking for a volunteer to teach a Spanish class once a week for about one hour. We have five to ten people who would like to participate in such a class. If you are interested in teaching or know of someone who would teach, please call 867-1396.
