Try the Community Center for lunch

Sandoval County Senior Centers serve noontime meals on site and homebound meals for seniors unable to come to the center. The noontime meals are a great opportunity to eat a well-balanced meal and spend some time visiting with other members of the community.

Meal service at the Placitas Community Center begins at noon and continues until about 12:20 p.m. Residents who are 60 years of age or older may enjoy lunch for $1.50. People under 60 years of age are welcome—including children—but must pay $4.50 per meal. The seniors are served first, while those under 60 will be served at 12:15 p.m.

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays: Chair exercise 9:30 a.m.; equipment exercise 3 p.m.

Tuesdays: Painting class 9:30 a.m.

Thursdays: Yoga 9:30 a.m.

Fridays: Stained-glass class 12 p.m.

May 1: Ham and butter beans, spinach, au gratin potatoes, tossed salad, applesauce

May 2: Oven fried chicken, potato salad, brussels sprouts, Jell-O w/topping

May 3: Pepper steak, ranchero corn, mashed potatoes, tossed salad, fresh peaches

May 4: Bean burrito, green chile, Spanish rice, tossed salad, peanut butter cookies

May 5: Green chile cheeseburgers, pork and beans, Tater Tots, garnish, sherbet

May 8: Polish sausage, sauerkraut, bun, potato wedges, mixed veggies, pears

May 9: Cabbage pork stew, mixed veggies, corn bread, sliced cinnamon apples

May 10: Roast turkey with gravy, stuffing, green beans, sweet potatoes, tossed salad, tapioca pudding

May 11: Green chile stew, pinto beans, tossed salad, crackers, fresh oranges

May 12: Tuna salad, pasta salad, chips, cottage cheese, pineapple tidbits

May 15: Spaghetti with meatballs, Italian veggies, tossed salad, garlic bread, cookies

May 16: Chicken fajitas, tortillas, Spanish rice, refried beans, cherry cobbler

May 17: Beef stroganoff, noodles, carrots, tossed salad, Jell-O with mixed fruit

May 18: Chile beans with ground beef, Spanish rice, squash, corn bread, fresh apples

May 19: Baked fish, tartar sauce, green beans, rice pilaf, peach cobbler

May 22: Chicken fried steak with gravy, rice, green beans and mushrooms, fresh pears

May 23: Roast pork with gravy, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots, applesauce

May 24: Red chile beef enchiladas, pinto beans, tossed salad, strawberry shortcake

May 25: Chicken teriyaki, fried rice, egg rolls, Oriental veggies, mixed fruit

May 26: Turkey sandwich, garnish, potato salad, baked beans, corn chips, dessert

May 29: Closed in observance of Memorial Day

May 30: BBQ chicken, mixed veggies, Tater Tots, apple cobbler

May 31: Meat lasagna, Italian veggies, garlic bread, tossed salad, butterscotch pudding
