Beginner kiln-formed glass class taught at the Placitas Center

Kiln-fired glass is an ancient art form that employs special glass called dichroic glass, which sparkles. Two layers or more provide a canvass on which you can easily create every color of the rainbow.

Cathryne Richards is the instructor for this fun class. There will be three sessions on April 14, April 21, and April 28, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. The glass fusing will take place at the Placitas Community Center, 41 Camino de Las Huertas. Materials to finish your first project will be available for a seven dollar fee. Glass, dichroic glass, and tools for glass cutting and shaping will also be available for sale at the first class. Call the Community Center at 867-1396 to reserve your space.

Also at the Community Center, beginning April 17, at 2:00 p.m., Hand and Foot Canasta will be taught and played. This fun card game will be played each Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., following instruction. Since it is such an easy game to play, you can join this class with no previous experience in card playing. Call the Center to reserve your spot at the table.
