Master gardener will talk about roses

The ongoing lecture series sponsored by the Sandoval County Master Gardeners will present “Roses on the Rio,” a talk by master gardener Kathy Ellis, on November 7.

Ellis will discuss the types of roses that grow best in Placitas, Rio Rancho, the North Valley, Corrales, and nearby areas. The talk will be from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Esther Bone Memorial Library, 950 Pinetree Road (next to the post office), in Rio Rancho.

NM transplant recipients sought for competition

The New Mexico Transplant Team is seeking organ-transplant recipients to participate in the U.S. Transplant Games, to be held in Louisville, Kentucky, June 16-21, 2006. Competition is open to anyone who has received a lifesaving organ transplant—heart, liver, kidney, lung, pancreas, or intestine. Bone-marrow recipients are also eligible to participate.

La Buena Vida cookbook now available

La Buena Vida, a nonprofit family behavioral health-care agency, has put together a cookbook with over two hundred recipes. Proceeds from the sale of the cookbook will go toward supporting the agency’s mental health and substance-abuse programs.

Exclusive shopping hours at the mall to benefit Storehouse West

Storehouse West, a nonprofit organization in Rio Rancho that helps people in need, will hold a fund-raiser on Sunday, November 20. You can buy a ticket for admission to exclusive shopping from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Cottonwood Mall. Ticket proceeds will benefit Storehouse West and mall stores will be offering discounts, freebies, door prizes, drawings, and photos with Santa.
