Try the Community Center for lunch

Sandoval County Senior Centers serve noontime meals on site and homebound meals for seniors unable to come to the center. The noontime meals are a great opportunity to eat a well-balanced meal and spend some time visiting with other members of the community.

Meal service at the Placitas Community Center begins at noon and continues until about 12:20 p.m. Residents who are 60 years of age or older may enjoy lunch for $1.50. People under 60 years of age are welcome—including children—but must pay $4.50 per meal. The seniors are served first, while those under 60 will be served at 12:15 p.m.

Chair Exercise: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9:30 a.m.

1-2 mile walking video: Monday–Friday, 4:15 p.m.

Yoga: Thursdays, 9:30 a.m.

Peña Blanca Harvest Dance and Craft Sale: 12:30–3:00 p.m.

October 5: Baked chicken, au gratin potatoes, green peas, tossed salad, Mandarin oranges

October 6: Pork noodle casserole, green beans, sliced peaches

October 7: Pollock, baked potato, asparagus, tossed salad, plum

October 10: Closed Columbus Day

October 11: Green chile stew, pinto beans, spinach salad, butterscotch pudding, tortilla

October 12: Arroz con pollo, peas and carrots, applesauce cake

October 13: Beef lasagna, Italian vegetables, tossed salad, garlic bread, Jell-o

October 14: Tuna salad sandwich, lettuce, tomato, macaroni salad, chips, orange

October 17: Beef goulash, broccoli and cauliflower, apricots
October 18: Pork roast with gravy, mashed potatoes, beets, tossed salad, cantaloupe

October 19: Green chile chicken enchiladas, refried beans, corn, sliced peaches, crackers

October 20: Pepper steak, rice, spinach with onion, tossed salad, Jell-o with topping

October 21: BBQ chicken, baked beans, asparagus, watermelon

October 24: Spaghetti with meat sauce, calabacitas, tossed salad, sweet rice, garlic bread

October 25: Frito pie, lettuce, tomatoes, corn, pineapple, cookies

October 26: Turkey stuffing, sweet potatoes, green beans, tossed salad, sliced pears

October 27: Baked pollock with tartar sauce, potato O’Brian, broccoli, brownie

October 28: Ham slice, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, tossed salad, mixed fruit

October 31: Sloppy Joes, potato salad, peas, sugar cookies with frosting
