 October 31: Halloween Luncheon with Pot Luck at Placitas Senior Center 11:30 a.m.—join us for a great time and a good meal with many goodies and games.

The Placitas Community Center will be holding a “dinner and star party” at the Placitas Community Center on November 3, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. Freshly baked pizza and salad will be served for dinner from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. Steve Snider will be bringing two telescopes and will show us the Moon, Mars, Saturn, and a variety of other celestial delights in the night sky. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own telescopes or binoculars to this event. Sign up today at 867-1396.

Center is also looking for someone to volunteer to teach a six-week course in Spanish. Contact the Placitas Community Center at 867-1396 and pick up the complete newsletter on site—41 Camino de las Huertas.

October 3: Beef stew with potatoes, celery, carrots, onion, garden salad with dressing, cornbread with margarine, chilled peaches

October 4: Sweet and sour pork, steamed rice, oriental vegetables, sweet roll with margarine, fresh grapes, almond cookie

October 5: Mandarin orange chicken wrap, pasta salad with broccoli and peppers, coleslaw, fresh melon

October 6: Shepard’s pie with mashed potatoes, steamed mixed vegetables, garden salad with dressing, biscuit with margarine, chilled fruit cocktail

October 7: Green chili enchiladas, pinto beans, zucchini and onions, shredded lettuce and tomato, fresh orange

October 10: Center closed

October 11: Salisbury Steak with mushroom gravy, steamed brown rice, steamed peas, tossed salad with dressing, whole wheat roll with margarine, apple crisp

October 12: BBQ rib sandwich, ranch beans, steamed carrots, coleslaw, fresh orange

October 13: Savory chicken with gravy, roasted red potatoes, steamed broccoli, garden salad with dressing, sweet roll with margarine, fresh banana

October 14: Lemon pepper tilapia, brown rice pilaf, steamed green beans, coleslaw, whole wheat roll with margarine, chilled apricots

October 17: Chicken fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, mixed green salad with dressing, biscuit with margarine, chilled peaches

October 18: Smothered beef and bean burrito, Spanish rice, steamed carrots, tossed salad with dressing, fresh fruit in season

October 19: Center closed for staff training

October 20: Chicken marinara with pasta, steamed green beans, garden salad with dressing, garlic toast, fresh melon

October 21: Sloppy joe sandwich, baked beans, steamed mixed vegetables, tossed salad with dressing, fresh apple slices, cookie

October 24:  Chicken breast strips with honey mustard, steamed brown rice, steamed cabbage, mixed green salad with dressing, fresh grapes

October 25: Meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, buttered corn, garden salad with dressing, biscuit with margarine, chilled apricots

October 26: Chef’s salad with turkey, ham, tomato, cheese and egg, croutons, club crackers, fresh orange, pudding

October 27: Frito pie, pinto beans, zucchini with onions, shredded lettuce and tomato, flour tortilla, fresh pineapple spear

October 28: Roasted pork loin with gravy, parslied potatoes, steamed California vegetables, garden salad with dressing, whole wheat roll with margarine, chilled applesauce

October 31:  Beef goulash with macaroni, steamed mixed vegetables, mixed green salad with dressing, garlic toast, chilled peaches, pumpkin bread with whip topping

2% milk served with each meal. Canned fruit in light syrup. Menu subject to change.

This menu applies to all Sandoval County senior centers, except Meadowlark Senior Center in Rio Rancho.
