“Popcorn for sale” say Cub Scouts of Pack 708. Their fundraiser will pay for most of their scouting costs for the year and scouting day camp next summer.

“We hope people will buy our excellent popcorn. This fundraiser pays for the bulk of the boys’ scouting fees and summer day camp,” explains Cub Master David Gardner.

This month’s activities for Pack 708’s Cub Scouts include a Friday visit to the flight simulator at the Southwest Aeronautics, Mathematics, and Science Academy, and a zoo visit on October 15.

The Coronado Optimist Club’s annual Thanksgiving Sharing Program boxes will be left at the Bernalillo and Placitas Post Offices and other area locations to collect non-perishable food. The Optimists will sort the food into baskets, and give them to the schools for distribution to families in the community with whom they wish to share Thanksgiving.

Several new boys have joined Cub Scout Pack 708, so the Tigers are learning the basics of scouting. The Wolves are concentrating on camping preparations, while the Bears are focused on robotics. The Webelos are working on physical fitness. The overall Scouting theme this month is Cub Scout Cooking, and the theme is Thrifty.

Pack 708’s meetings are held at the LDS Church Center in Bernalillo, west of I-25’s Exit 240. The weekly meetings occur from 6:30-7:30 p.m., on Wednesdays. New scout members always are welcome in the Pack. Planning meetings with parents are held on the month’s fourth Tuesday.
