Historical Society hosts musicians for September
meeting
On September 9 at 2:00 p.m., the monthly Sandoval County Historical
Society meeting will feature an afternoon of music with guitarist
Jesus “Chuey” Martinez and his band playing Spanish
ballads and other Spanish music. This will be the Society’s
only regular meeting until their Christmas party in December because
of all the activity of the visiting Smithsonian “Key Ingredients:
America By Food” exhibition. This meeting is free and open
to the public and will be held at the Delavy House Museum, off Highway
550, west of Bernalillo, between the Coronado State Monument and
the Santa Ana Star Casino. For further information, contact Martha
Liebert at 867-2755.
Health screening available for seniors
Senior citizens are invited to attend a health screening clinic
at Our Lady of Sorrows Church on the third Thursday of each month
from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The St. Vincent de Paul Senior Wellness
Clinic is held in the social center of the church located on the
Camino del Pueblo in Bernalillo. Activities include weight monitoring,
blood pressure check, and glucose monitoring. The clinic is seeking
volunteer nurses, a massage therapist and reflexologist to help
with these activities. Call Nancy Hawks at 771-4931 to volunteer
